The Archbishop of Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria and the President Lutheran World Federation, His Grace Most Rev. Musa Panti Filibus and his entourage were at the State Government House on a courtesy call on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri  today.

The Archbishop said that the purpose of the visit was to formally congratulate the Governor over his victory at polls and recent victory at the Supreme Court. He called on the Federal  Government through the Office of  Adamawa State Governor to end insecurity in Nigeria.

While commiserating with the Federal Government, people of Adamawa and Garkida community over the recent attack by the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group, Archbishop Filibus commended Governor Fintiri’s quick visit to Garkida community to commiserate with the people and his commitment to assist in the area of rehabilitation of damage structures.

The clergyman salute Governor Fintiri for his courageous effort in tackling insecurity while urging the authority concern to double effort in halting criminality.

“At the same time, we call on your government and the Federal Government through your office, to take the most decisive action in accordance with constitutional provision to bring to an end the alarming situation of insecurity in our country”, Archbishop Filibus said.

While noting the importance of education, Most Reverend Filibus lauded Governor Fintiri’s policy on out of school children.

“We appreciate the efforts of your government to take children off the streets and call on you to intensify these efforts” Archbishop Filibus applauded.

“The education needed today is not only academic pursuit but must be grounded in positive moral values that enable our youth have meaningful lives and contribute to the development of our nation”.
The LCCN Archbishop assured the Government of Governor Fintiri and all those in authority , the church support through prayers as enshrined in the denomination liturgy; and pledge to support any Government policy that will promote peace and just Adamawa and Nigeria at large.

His Grace Most Reverend Musa Panti Filibus therefore used the opportunity to inform the general public of the Annual Convention of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria which will begin proper on Wednesday, 26th February to Sunday, 1st March 2020 at the LCCN Covenant Ground in Demsa LGA, Adamawa State.

Responding, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri thanked LCCN for remembering his administration all the time and their fervent prayers. He urge them during the convention to continue praying for his administration to be better more than before.

Governor Fintiri informed the clergymen that his administration has done well in the areas of education, security, agriculture and human development.

He stressed that education is the bedrock of any society which was why his administration has enrolled about fifty thousand out of school children to school since it came to power in May 2019. And, his administration is targeting to enroll over a hundred thousand out of school children by the end of 2020.

Adding that his Government is working closely with relevant authorities to ensure that in the next two years, it put to stop out of school children and the Almajiris roaming about the streets in Adamawa State. Governor Fintiri enjoined the clergymen to note that the Government belongs to all and the need to coexist with different group of people and respect one another irrespective of religion so as to build better Adamawa and Nigeria at large.
