COVID-19: Gov Fintiri Orders Public, Private Workers on GL 1-14 Work From Home

The Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has ordered workers from Grade Level 1-14 in both public and private sectors to work from home, to help contain and prevent the spread of dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

In a press statement issued by the Press Secretary to Governor Fintiri,  Humwashi Wonosikou said the directive is to ensure the safety of people against COVID-19 and the period will last for 14 days subject to review. The work from home directive excluded those on essential services.

The statement read in parts: “Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has issued a stay at home directive to workers on grade levels 1-14 in both the Public and Private sectors.

“The directive is to ensure the safety of the people against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, a challenge the world is passing through.

“This category of staff are to work from home for a period of two weeks in the first instance subject to review, but with the exception of those on essential services such as Health Workers, Water Board, Fire Service, Board of Internal Revenue, Security Men, Abattoir and Media Workers.

“The Governor regrets the decision which He says is “necessary as Nigeria has already recorded 51 cases and one death, but happily Adamawa is free of the virus”.

“Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri reassured people of the State of his administration’s resolve to protect them against any form of challenge, and urged them to cooperate with the government towards better service delivery.

“The Governor reiterated the need for all concerned to observe basic hygiene practices like ensuring hand washing and social distancing”.
