Special Report:Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Dev. Appeals to Global Peace Development Initiatives to Help Fight Against Vices that Hinders Growth of Women in the State.

The Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs  Lami Patrick has described women as agents of peace, stressing that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere devoid of peace.

Mrs Patrick stated this during the experience learning session and review meeting with Women Associations organization by Global Peace Development and Center for Health Development in Africa held at Eagle Path Hotel Yola.

Represented by Mr John Medugu, the Hon Commissioner thanked the Global Peace Development for coming up with an empowerment programme which is inline with the Ministry's cardinal objectives.

Mrs Patrick appeal to the organization to corporate with the Ministry in the fight against vice's that hinder the growth of women in the state and the country as a whole and assured them of Government readiness to partner with them in championing the course of women.

In his welcome address,the Director of Global Peace development, Mr Ebrueke Esike said the meeting was to appraise the activities the activities of the fifteenth women groups empowered by the organization in June last year.

He explained that the women groups were drawn from Yola North, Mubi North and Mubi South Local Government  and were trained on peace building initiatives to strengthen their capacity, adding that their target is not only the women groups but the entire communities.

Mr Ebrueke Esike maintain that if women are involved in peace building platform their presence will be noticed and their roles in community decision making will be enhanced.

Also speaking the team lead of managing conflict in Nigeria, Mallam Abdulkadir Bello said the review meeting which involves women groups community leaders and Government functionaries is to share their experiences on their past activities.

In an interview, some of the women groups leaders, faith Samuel from Anguwan Jauro association, Naomi David from Tallafi women association and pastor Serah Bulus from women wing thanked the organization for organizing the meeting.
