The Hon. Commissioner for Local Government, Alh. Umar Mohammed said this when he received Mr. Ebruke Esiki , the Executive Director of Global Peace Development an NGO on a courtesy call at his office today.

In his remark, Mr. Esiki said that about 48,000 Households in 6 LGAs across the State will be enlightened on how to mitigate community transmission and misconception on COVID 19.

Mr. Ekisi explained that Global Peace Development is an NGO with funding support from European Union and British Council and it has been supporting various women organizations in the State. Adding that the NGO is set to promote peace and development.

Several women groups have been trained on how to mitigate GBV Gender Based Violence and Community Resilience and how to address issues of drugs abuse among youths.

Hon. Mohammed commended GPD for coming up with the initiative and for choosing Adamawa State. He described the intervention as timely adding that State is trying its best to curtail the spread of COVID 19.

He said that the Government is ready to partner with NGOs like theirs in the fight against COVID 19.



The 6 targeted LGAs are; Yola North, Yola South, Numan, Demsa, Mubi North and Mubi South.
