The Adamawa State Executive Council, at its 6th meeting for 2024, has approved a monthly end-of-month sanitation exercise to take place on the last Saturday of every month.

This initiative follows the state's recent fight against a measles outbreak, which forced the government to extend the resumption date for the third term of the 2023/24 academic session for primary and secondary schools.

Briefing Government House Yola correspondents after the meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chambers in Government House Yola, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Naido Geoffrey Kufolto, stated that Governor Fintiri's administration is committed to good governance. She emphasised that all decisions made by the Executive Council are sound and aligned with national policy.
Commissioner Kufolto explained that the Governor's administration undertook public awareness campaigns when the measles outbreak occurred.

She added that the Governor directed all Commissioners to return to their respective Local Government Areas to educate the public at the grassroots level about the measles outbreak. She announced that the state successfully tackled the measles outbreak. She urged citizens to practice good personal hygiene to reduce the risk of disease transmission within the environment.

According to Commissioner Kufolto, the State Executive Council also approved a variation order for the perimeter fencing of the Adamawa State Geographical Information System (AGIS). She disclosed that the initial contract for AGIS fencing amounted to N348,110,407.40k. The council has now approved a revised contract value of N692,752,056.3k for the perimeter fence.
This increase is due to rising inflation in the country, which has impacted the cost of building materials. She emphasised that the purpose of the fence is to secure the premises of the AGIS.
