Adamawa State Government has urged residents of the state to imbibe the culture of keeping their environment clean at all times. 

This followed the reintroduction of monthly sanitation, after several years, by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri led administration. 

Chief of Staff to Adamawa state Governor, Dr Edgar Amos Sunday during the sanitation exercise on Saturday, led government officials round the state capital to monitor the level of complaince by the residents.

Speaking in an interview, Dr. Edgar Sunday, said following the recent approval by Governor Fintiri, on the reintroducing of monthly sanitation in the state, Government officials saw the need to come out enmass to support, as well make sure they create safe and prosperous society for the citizens.

He called on the general public to imbibe the habit of keeping their environment clean, which is essential to human health and safety.

He said, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration is committed and will continue to do everything possible to ensure that  measures are put in place, that will  stop people from indiscriminate dumping of refuse which always lead to unclean and unhygienic environment.

According to Amos,  the level of complaince is low and believes that the reason behind the low turnout is that for a while the exercise wasn't in place but expressed optimism, that next exercise will be improved upon.

The Chief of staff, Dr. Edgar warned people against nonchalant attitude towards the environment, as well as take policies put in place by government seriously, pointing out that Fintiri led administration would not tolerate such acts next time.

In a remark, the commissioner Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Development, Sadiq Mohammed  thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for reintroducing the monthly sanitation exercise.

He encouraged the citizens to take care of their surroundings and contribute towards the infrastructure development of the state, adding that environmental issues are not to be played with stressing that the environmental sanitation exercise is part of  government efforts to maintain a clean and sustainable environment for residents.
