The National Emergency Management Agency  has handed over One Thousand Two Hundred and Seven metric tonnes of assorted food items to  Adamawa State Government for onward distribution to vulnerable persons across the state

The official handing over of the assorted food commodities took place at National Emergency Management Agency central store Yola North and has attracted commissioners, government officials who witnessed the event. 

Receiving the food items, the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta assured Federal Government of judicious and equitable distribution.

She commended the Federal Government for the gesture which according to her will cushion the resultant hardships and sufferings on the masses.

According to Professor Farauta, the effort is in line with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's human capital development initiatives in the face of current hardship experienced by the people as well as assured that government will ensure transparency.

In a remark,  Director General,  National Emergency  Management Agency NEMA Zubaida Umaru, represented by the North East Zonal Director Yakubu Suleiman revealed that out of 42,000 metric tonnes of assorted food commodities released by the Federal Government to be shared across the country, Adamawa has been allocated 462 metric tonnes of maize, 199.5 metric tonnes of millet and 546 metric tonnes of Sorghum, all packaged in 50kg bags.

Also speaking, Permanent Secretary who doubled as the Executive Secretary Adamawa State Ministry of Emergency Management Agency Heidi Edgar Sunday, said the grains meant for vulnerable people will compliment government's effort and would  bring relief to the citizens through various interventions.

She thanked the national emergency management agency and other relevant entities for their untiring support and response  to emergencies and humanitarian needs in the state.
