The just concluded 1st Edition of the U-17 Tennis Competition organised by the Deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Hon Sunday Peter was tagged "Catch Them Young".
The just concluded 1st Edition of the U-17 Tennis Competition organised by the Deputy Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Hon Sunday Peter was tagged "Catch Them Young".
The event took place at Yola Tennis Club Adamawa on the 12th -16 April, 2016 recorded a bright future for Adamawa.
During the occasion, the President of Tennis Club Adamawa Dr. Niyi
Oriolowo spoke on behalf of the sponsor and described Hon. Sunday
Peter as a man worthy of emulation, he added that catching them young
is always the best thing to do in terms of developing sports, saying it
is good to start early. Niyi also used the occasion to highlight
some of the challenges hindering the growth of Sports in Adamawa
State. He said the delay in catching them young is one of the
factors that militate against sports in the state.
Dr.
Niyi further described the edition as a maiden one and would want
the programme to tell the world what we are going through in
tennis development in the state. He
therefore commended the efforts of the tennis coach, as well as staff of Adamawa State Sports Council. Dr Niyi also described Bindow Change Mantra as an effective one where people see things happen.
He also called on the people of Adamawa to support this present
administration so as to promote and achieve the desired goals.
Dr.
Oriolowo called on the government to complete the sports complex
along Numan road and also to provide sporting facilities to
deserving athletes in the state.
The event was also
categorised into groups A, B and C aging from 4-17yrs. Medals and
certificates were presented to winners of the competition.
