ADVOCACY MESSAGE BY THE HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER, MINISRTY OF WOMEN AFFAIRS AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, ALHAJI ALIYU TOLA BELLO DURING ADVOCACY TO THE ADAMAWA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ON EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES AND OTHER BILLS, HELD ON 21^ST DEC. 2016.

Protocols…

1.      The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Adamawa is happy with the partnership it enjoys with all Development Partners, Civil Societies Organizations, the Media, Donor Agencies, and UN Agencies in Adamawa State.

2.      In September this year, world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly at the  Global Leaders Meeting on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment: A Commitment to Action,made concrete commitments and firm pledges in order to close Gender Equality gaps this is why we are also here.

3.      As a strategic partner in development, we are saying with one voice that as leaders of our people and government, you have the power and responsibility to ensure that gender equality is –and remains a national, state and local government priority, for development to thrive. We humbly urge you as leaders to:

a)      Energetically pass the Equal Opportunities Bill ,Child Right Act, and Violence Against Person Prohibition Bill;

b)      Provide significant financing for gender equality for all, so that commiments become reality in the state;

c)      Monitor progress so that all levels of government will hold themselves and each other accountable for the pledges made towards the development of our people and communities.
