The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has admonished staff of the FCT Administration to keep fit and maintain healthy living for improved productivity.

The Minister gave this charge at the flag off of the first FCTA monthly jogging for fitness exercise at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki I District, Abuja on Saturday.

The Minister who was represented at the occasion by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, remarked that the FCT Administration introduced this exercise because physical fit improves ones health.

Malam Bello reiterated that physical exercise should be made a habit to improve our health condition; adding that sound health of the workforce would trickle down on the productivity and service delivery to the residents of the Federal capital Territory.

He stressed that the introduction of the exercise is a deliberate policy of the FCT Administration to motivate staff to imbibe regular and continuous physical exercise because of its diverse and immense health benefits.

His words: “We cannot over flog the need to keep healthy because we see people with all kinds of diseases that make people to slump and die which can easily be avoided by simple physical exercise.”

According to him, “I pray that none of the FCT Administration staff will experience that, thus the need to flag-off the exercise to encourage us to stay alive and to live well.”

He enjoined the Acting Secretaries of the FCT Mandate Secretariats as well as the Directors to encourage their staff to come out en-masse in the subsequent monthly exercises, as a Ministerial Trophy would be instituted for the best SDAs next month.

“We are going to judge you through various means namely how well members of your staff turn out as an SDA in terms of attendance, in terms of kitting and how you participated well in the event,” Malam Bello emphasized.

The Minister said that the exercise is good for them considering the huge time spend at various work places always on the computers, and therefore asked them to encourage all the staff to partake.

Malam Bello at the occasion thanked SunTrust Bank for collaborating with the FCT Administration to organize the exercise, and advised other corporate organization to emulate the Bank as part of their corporate social responsibility.
