Governor Muhammed Umar Jibrilla has inaugurated Debt Management Committee with call on members to discharge their duties deligently.
While inaugurating members of the committee at the council chambers of the Government House Yola, Governor Muhammed Jibrilla said the inauguration has become necessary to enable government work in line with the laid down Laws.
He also urged members of the committee to be responsive as far as Debt management is concerned.
In his remarks, the Secretary to the State Government Dr Umar Buba Bindir explained that the inauguration of the committee was in line with section Four subsection One and Two of the Debt management act .
While responding on behalf of the members of the committee, the Chairman of the committee and Deputy Governor Engr.Martins Babale appreciated the confidence reposed on the members of the committee.
Engineer Martins Babale pointed out that they will look at both the Internal and External Debts of the state Government, stressing that it is a great task before the members of the committee.
He also recalled that at the inception of the present administration government has maintained a clean record of Loans being committed by both state and Local Government in the state, assuring that the committee will discharge it's mandate in accordance with the Terms and Reference.
Members of the committee include Deputy Governor Engr.Martins Babale as Chairman, while Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Finance and Budget Mahmood Sali Yunusa as Vice Chairman.
Other members includes Honourable Commissioner Ministry for Local government and chieftancy Affairs Alhaji Mustapha Barkindo, State Accountant General Mrs Augustine Wandamihya, state Chairman of Planning commission Engr. Arin Lutu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Planning while the Director General of Debt management Office is to serve as the Secretary of the committee.
Letters of appointment was also presented to the members of the committee by Governor Muhammed Jibrilla.
