Governor Mohammed umar Bindow has reiterated Government commitment and concern to support the fight against Sexual Gender Based Violence in the state. He said this on Friday at the summit on Sexual and Gender Based Violence organized for the Attorney General of the federation and  the 36 Attorney Generals of the 36 States held at AUN clube.

The Governor expressed dismay and condemn in totality what is happening in Abia and River's States, called on people in the state to live in peace with one another irrespective of religious affliction.

He then assured that government will continue to safeguard lives and properties of its citizenry.  Also,  he commended President Buhari for its fight and ending insurgency in the North East.The Governor appreciated the Developmental Partners for their support and ensure to support any resolution at the end of the meeting.

Declaring the summit open,  the Attorney General of the federation,  Alhaji Abubakar Malami said it is his expectation that the summit will deliberate and consider issues on Gender Based Violence and find ways of tackling it. Alhaji Malami noted that as vanguard of justice,  its their collective responsibility to ensure that the peace and unity of the Nation is not compromise.

The Attorney General of the federation explained that anyone found threatening the peace of the country will be dealt with accordingly.

There were Goodwill messages from the representative of UNHCR and UNFPA among others.
