The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in collaboration with Ministry of Information and Strategy organised a two - day training on general, protection, mainstreaming and humanitarian reporting for all the 21 L ocal Government Information Officers and some selected working Journalist in the State. It was held at Dantsoho Hotel, Mustapha Ismail street, Malamre Yola from 27th - 28th November 2017. 

The training was however declared opened by Comrade Ahmad Ibrahim Sajoh, Hon. Commissioner of Adamawa State Ministry of Information. He thanked the (UNCHR) for collaborating with the Ministry and for their effort in training the 21 L ocal Government Information Officers and some selected journalist in the State. 

He added that the State has been having some Information problems such as insurgency, communal clash, floods etc. And, as Information Managers, Journalist you are the a voice to the voiceless. "We need to share Information using soft target." Sajoh said. 

He concluded by calling on all the participants to listen and make good use of the training and respect each others views. 

One of the facilitators Umar Abdullahi said the purpose of the training on the mandate of (UNHCR) on conflict is to sensitize media reporters in the State. 

Mr. Tom Momboe also presented a topic on; what is Information sharing? And why do we share Information? He added by saying the purpose is to address issues and to ensure efficiencies  in service delivery and to ensure consIstency in Information dissemination to Refugees and other persons of concern. 

The training ended successful and a closing remarks from one of the participants, Ayuba Daniel Information officer Fofore Local Government Area. On behalf of all the participants he thanked the (UNHCR) officials for organizing such training for Information Officers and Journalists within the State. He also called for more humanitarian training if possible.
