PRESS STATEMENT: Governor Bindow Calls For Sustainance of Peace

PRESS STATEMENT

THE ADAMAWA STATE GOVERNMENT

His Excellency Governor the Executive Governor of Adamawa State Senator  Muhammadu Umar Jibrilla  (Bindow ) felicitate with the entire citizens of Adamawa state on the occasion of new year. The Governor wishes everyone a very prosperous New Year. In addition, His Excellency calls on the people to reflect on the preceding year and try to see areas that need sustenance and those that require improvement. Senator Muhammad Umaru Jibrilla equally expresses sincere gratitude and appreciation to good people of Adamawa for the support and prayers his government enjoyed throughout the year 2017, and solicit for the same in the year 2018.

As part of the New Year celebrations for the year 2018, His Excellency Senator Mohammad Umar Jibrilla Bindow had invoked the powers conferred on him under the prerogative of mercy headed by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, decided to pardon the following convicts as follows:

COMMUTAL OF DEATH SENTENCES 

In addition to the above cases in Adamawa prison, His Excellency the Executive Governor, acting on the advice of the committee headed by Attorney-General has commuted the death sentences of the following persons to life imprisonment:

1. Mohammed Abba  ( Kaduna Convict Prison ) 

2. Abubakar Dajo   ( Jos Convict Prison ) 

All necessary steps are to be taken by the prison authorities acting on the warrant signed by His Excellency to ensure compliance with the prerogative of Mercy of pronouncement of the Governor. Those affected are also urged to act within the reformatory process they underwent while in prison. 

Finally, His Excellency Senator Muhammad Umar Jibrilla Bindow calls on all eligible Adamawa citizens to ensure that they obtain their voters cards in order to fully participate in the democratic process which will commence in 2018 and to be vigilant throughout the year in order to ensure peace and prosperity in the State.
