Women's Day is celebrated globally on the 8th day of March every year in honour of women for their remarkable contributions to the society

The day is also commemorate the inspiring role of women around the world to secure women's right and build more equitable society. Also to celebrate women achievement from the political to social, while calling for gender equality.

Here in Adamawa state,  Women's Day was celebrated in a high a spirit ,where women from all works of life converge at banquet hall of government house yola to celebrate the day.

Speaking at the event the Adamawa state, Secretary to the Government,  Dr.  Umar Bindir commended women for the vital role they play at home urged them to avoid idleness and engage themselves in entrepreneur, to get a greater society.

While congratulating them,  he describe them as a backbone of every society.

 In his paper presentation title time is now: Rural and Urban activists transforming womens live ,the state coordinator of UN Women,  Dr Titus Orngu said  this year theme is " Press for progress captured the vibrant life of the women activist whose passion and commitment have won women's rights over the generations, and successfully brought change."

Titus said, the day is remarkable gathering of strength among women all over the world demonstrating the power of speaking with one voice.
