PRESS RELEASE:FCTA holds workshop on improved service delivery for directors

As part of efforts to enhance the capacity of its management staff for effective and efficient service delivery to residents of the Territory, in line with the vision of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to be among one of the best 20 world Class Capital Cities in the provision of standard infrastructure, quality social service delivery, among others, the FCT SERVICOM has concluded a one-day intensive sensitization workshop on service delivery and operational improvement in the FCT.

Speaking during the workshop at the FCDA Conference Hall at Area 11 Garki, FCT Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa expressed optimism that the workshop would further strengthen the capacity of the participants for enhanced productivity using the SERVICOM platform.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the workshop is hinged on the commitment of the FCT Administration to build a World Class Capital City with standard infrastructure and quality service delivery comparable to the best in the world.

He said: “the importance of this workshop is underscored by the fact that the Federal Capital Territory Administration is entrusted with the mission-critical task of building a World Class City with standard infrastructure and quality social service delivery”.

The Permanent Secretary further disclosed that in view of the critical role, effective and efficient service delivery plays on Mr. President Change Agenda, he has directed that all officers should undergo relevant trainings with a view to sharpening their capacity for effective and efficient service delivery to residents of the territory. 

His words: “it is a basic fact that the success of this Administration’s Change Agenda is anchored on effective and efficient service delivery as enunciated in the SERVICOM Charter. The Federal Capital Territory Administration acknowledges this incontrovertible fact and that thus resolved that all cadres in the services of the FCTA will receive the required training and exposure to equip them for enhanced performance”.  

Delivering a keynote address, titled: ‘SERVICOM and service delivery to FCT residents’, the National Coordinator of SERVICOM,Mrs.Nnenna Akajemeli opined that the success of the FCT Administration can only be attained through a seamless, effective and efficient service delivery to FCT residents.

She explained that the workshop would afford top management staff of the Administration the opportunity to buy into the SERVICOM initiative and also reflect on the quality of services being rendered to residents of the Territory.

She used the occasion to thank FCT Minister and the Permanent Secretary for renewed efforts to enhance the quality of service delivery to the residents using the instrumentality of the SERVICOM platform.

Also speaking during the sensitization workshop, the Director, Human Resource Management, FCTA, Hajiya Amina Abubakar said the forum is borne out of the Administration’s initiative to set in motion mechanisms that will facilitate the achievement of the objectives of the Administration.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director in the Permanent Secretary’s Office, Mr.Udo Samuel Atang remarked that the workshop would give participants opportunity to brainstorm and cross fertilize ideas aim at promoting the culture of efficient service delivery to residents of the territory.

Dwelling more on the importance of the exercise, he stressed that given the challenge posed by rapid growth of the nation’s Capital City, there is an urgent need to fashion out a sustainable approach aim at enhancing quality and efficient service to residents of the territory.

Mr.Atang explained that the workshop is apt considering the enormous responsibilities; the FCT Administration is saddled with as the nation’s Capital City.

The Director also used the occasion to commend the FCT Minister and the Permanent Secretary for strategically repositioning the FCT SERVICOM on the pedestal of excellent, effective and efficient service delivery.

Presenting a vote of thanks, the FCT NODAL Officer, Ms Bunmi Olowookere thanked the present authorities of the FCT Administration for their passion to ensure that the FCT SERVICOM
