Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency ADSPHDA  with support from UNICEF C4D/Polio Communication Section organized a 2 Day Sensitization  for Media Chief Executives and inauguration of Journalist  Against Polio (JAP) on Wednesday 13th, 2019 at City Green Hotel here in Yola.

Journalist Against Polio is a formidable organization that works with UNICEF.  Its members were derived from TV  and Radio Stations as well as the Print and on line media that has come together to work  out strategic ways on how to tackle  Polio in Adamawa.

Director Disease Control from the Agency in his opening remark has emphasized on the need for Journalist to participate actively particularly in the area of conducting researches on health issues in the state adding that Journalism is beyond writing a report.

Pharm. Innocent a Consultant with UNICEF  gave an over view of  activities supported by UNICEF for Q3 & 4Q 2018. He also made a brief presentation on what C4D is, the approaches  to Polio Eradication, measurement of C4D outcomes, C4D Planning Processes etc.

Umar Dankano Ag. Chairman NUJ Adamawa State in a remark said JAP was initiated last year 2018 to fight Polio in the state and has not been able to carry out any activity due to lack of funding. Fortunately, UNICEF and Eu has taken up the responsibility of supporting it through the ADPHDA.

There was a very good representation from all TV Stations (local and national), Radio Stations, Print Media ( local and national), Online Media and Civil Societies Organisations (CSOs). MDs of ATV, NTA, ABC, Director State Ministry of Information and a representation from Gotel Communications were all in attendance.

Issues ranging from membership, active participation, 2019 activities, as well as strategies to be employed for a successful implementation.
