Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta Reiterated Government Commitment and Determination in Working Closely With Partners at Ensuring The Girl Child is Well Protected Against Gender Based Violence.
The Deputy Governor disclosed this when she granted audience to officials from United Nations Population Fund in her office Thursday.
Worried by gender inequality among other gender based violence mated on the girl child, the United Nations Population Fund whose primary objective is to champion the course of a girl child and women were on a familiarization visit to the Deputy Governor.
Receiving the officials led by the Resident Representative of UNFPA Nigeria, Elizabeth Uller Mueller, the deputy governor saluted them for the projects and development they brought to Adamawa State, expressing government readiness to sustain such partnership for desired result.
She said Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who happens to be the man of foresight has for long took the bull by the horn towards ensuring a girl child have been given quality education and other privileges due to them for a better life they deserved.
Farauta informed the visitors that girl child deserves a level playing field with their male counterpart especially, by getting them educated and placed on a right ground, stressing that they are always patience and accommodative in all spheres of life.
The first female deputy governor in Adamawa State and the North Eastern Nigeria therefore, promised to sustain the partnership and build on the successes already recorded in addressing the issues affecting the girl child in the state to make them the productive members of the society.
Earlier, the resident representative UNFPA Nigeria, Elizabeth Uller Mueller intimated the deputy governor on their visit, saying the state has a patentials.
Mueller explained that she has been an advocate for gender equality and women development, heaping accorlades on professor Kaletapwa Farauta for her humbleness and humility.
She commended the commitment and political will demonstrated by the fresh air government towards achieving their goals in Adamawa, revealing that more funds have been secured for the implementation of their programs in the state which focuses on gender equality and gender based violence.
The organization being one of the backborn of support to the state government further promised not to relent on their oars, but continue to channel the available resources for the development of Adamawa and its citizens.
