Adamawa state export and investment summit committee has been strategizing to see how best to successfully implement its terms of reference geared towards improving the economic status of the state.

The committee has been set up by the State Government in demonstration of its commitment to make Adamawa one of the commercial nerve centers of Nigeria.

Converged at the Women Development Centre Conference hall on Tuesday 13th February, 2024 were members of the export and investment committee inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Auwal Tukur, Chaired  by the Honourable Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Dr. Ishaya John Dabari.

The committee seeks to draw a road map to woo investors into the state and create the possibilities of exporting goods and services as well as creating enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

The chairman of the committee, Dr. Ishaya John Dabari revealed that the terms of reference include; identifying potential investment within and outside Nigeria, developing legal framework and policy to safeguard both external and internal investors, identifying and documenting partial resources in the state in terms of mineral resources, agricultural product, livestock and tourism, as well as to develop policy on import and export revenue generation within the state among others.

According to him, all this is part of the fresh air administration's effort to create ease of doing business in Adamawa, mobilise people to participate in export of their crops and woo investors to stimulate the economy of the state.

The commissioner of Information and Strategy Neido Geoffrey Kofulto and that of Entrepreneurship Development James Iliya saluted the initiative which according to them will transform the economic narrative of the state for better.

The stakeholders said the committee’s terms of reference if successful will attract investors thereby boosting the economic activities and the gross domestic product (GDP) of Adamawa.

The committee consists of the ministry for commerce, trade and industry, entrepreneurship development, the national export promotion council and the non governmental organizations among others stakeholders.
