USAID: STATE2STATE Engages Desk and GESI Officers in Quarterly Meeting.

USAID State Accountability,  Transparency and Effectiveness  ( State2State) has organised a quarterly meeting for its Desk and GESI ( Gender Equality and Social Inclusion) Officers today, March 12th 2024 at Rockview Hotel,  Adamawa State.

The State2State is a five year old reform programme in Adamawa that specialises in improving government's ability to plan and budget,  raise revenues,  increase responsiveness to citizens needs and priorities,  manage conflict and over see service delivery in the health,  education,  water,sanitation and hygiene  ( WASH) sector. 

Mr Habila Salem the CE/CD State 2State Adamawa State in an interview told adamawadailyreports that the general overview of the Quarterly meeting for MDAs Desk Officers and Gender Equality and Social Inclusion GESI is to review achievements and success stories of reforms interventions and to plan for next the  Quarter.  Issues related to 2024 Budget implementation and the role of Desk officers especially monitoring implementation of citizens nominated Budget in the approved 2024 budget were also tackled. When asked whether there is improvement regarding the contributions of the Desk officers and the GESI Officers,  Mr Salem affirmed that the compliance of the officers in the area of providing vital information on the monthly templates provided to them is commendable and still  hoping to be better.  He said  he wants the officers to know that they are reformers so they co champion reform in public financial management at their places of services delivery in the State and urged them to take their roles important and to also support their Ministries to mainstream GESI and conflict sensitivity in  Governance reforms.  And, to also collaborate with Civil Societies Organizations in  providing the required information.

Yusuf Nathan Pwasari, the Programme and Planning Director in the Adamawa State Water Board in another interview said the meeting is fantastic and enlightening and a lot of things were learned during the course of the meeting.  " I will like to commend State2State for the opportunity to attend the meeting. "  The Director advised that apart from WASH, education and health care  i will love them to add  another sector apart from the three sectors. 

The implementing ministries includes; Education,  Water Resources, Health,  Budget and Economic Planning,  Finance,  Women Affairs and Social Development,  Information and Strategy,  Local Government Affairs amongst others.
