Her Excellency, Hajiya Maryam
Umar Jibirilla is set to organise 3-Days Capacity Building Workshop on Acquiring
Entrepreneurship for 2,260 widows drawn from the 21 Local Government Areas
across the state.
All Heads of Service from 21 Local Government
Areas in the state were at the Government House Presidential Lounge. They were given
forms to be issued among widows in their respective Local Government Areas. The
widows are expected to fill in the forms and attached a passport size
photograph before submission.
She urged the Heads of Service to organise
workshops that will sensitise women particularly widows on how to venture into
business.
Hajiya Maryam Mohammad Umaru explained her
sole aim of coming up with the Initiative, adding that involving women from grassroots
particularly those affected by the insurgency happen to be her area of
interest. She said many women lost their husbands in the process and are now
widows and they are most vulnerable in the society.

Hon. Commissioner Ministry of Women Affairs, Social
Development and Integration, Alhaji Aliyu Bello
Tola in his remarks advised representatives of each
Local Government Areas to
make judicious distribution of the forms.
The Heads of Service Yola -South Local Government Area, Alhaji Chubado
Hamidu, in his speech
promised to ensure
judicious distribution of the
forms in his Area.
National President
of Widows Association, Mrs. Hilda Makantu in her remarks confessed that she has stayed long in Widows
Council but has never
experienced this kind
of gesture. Mrs. Makantu
appreciated the efforts of her Excellency.
Lastly, the
Permanent Secretary Ministry
of Women Affairs, Hajiya Maisaratu Bello who was in charge of the
distribution process charged all the Heads
of Service to ensure that the forms goes round.
