This was disclosed by the SSG of the State Engr. Umar Bindir on Friday. He said that the Federal Government has begun the construction of a Federal Inland Port in Yola.
Bindir revealed that the construction of the Port that was affected by the tremendous activities of the insurgents in the north east showcases and confirms that peace has returned back to the state .
He added that the several attacks launched by the insurgents in the State has affected its economic activities negatively and has caused the flow of investment to nosedive. However, he stated that; “ If I were to quantify the economic loss recorded by the state , I will put it based on the measure of our GDP of $ 3 bn to be around $ 9 bn, which is probably thrice our GDP".
More so, he had explained how the Agricultural sector too has suffered a lot of setbacks as the result of the activities of Book Haram. Boko Haram crisis has drastically reduced the monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from N 1 bn to less than N 200m .
How ever, Bindir is optimistic that the ongoing project clearly ascertains the return of peace in Adamawa State. He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the peace that the people of Adamawa State are now enjoying.
The SSG has called on Investors within and outside the state to come and invest in Adamawa State.
