The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has called on all socio-cultural organizations dwelling in the Federal Capital Territory to be in the vanguard of showcasing aspects of their rich cultural heritage that encourage unity and togetherness.

The Minister made this call at the weekend, while receiving a delegation from the Bwatiye Community Development Association, led by its President, Mr. Mohammed Mahassei that paid him a courtesy visit in his office at Area 11, Garki I District, Abuja.

Malam Bello also urged all the leadership of cultural organizations in the Territory to exploit and display their various cultures and tradition that encourage hard work and patriotism to strengthen the unique position of Abuja as a true centre of unity.

His words: “Cultural organizations in the Federal Capital Territory are expected to promote such aspects of the culture that encourage hard work, brotherliness, fairness and fight against bad governance to not only help to strengthen the FCT, but also promote accelerated development of the capital city”.

According to him, “Abuja as you all know is our city of unity and is a city that we are all very proud of. I implore you to continue to give your very best for the city and try to bring to the city a very rich cultural heritage of the Bwatiye nation, which we are all very fully aware and very proud of”.

“Bwatiye culture is a culture that thrives on hard work, commitment to community, commitment to brothers and sisters and also fearlessness and fighting against bad governance. This is something we have known our community for a very long time and I think it is something that we need to showcase in Abuja,” he emphasized.

Malam Bello pledged that the FCT Administration would support any effort at cultural rebirth in the FCT by providing a veritable platform that could be used to showcase rich cultural, societal and community heritage for people to see and appreciate.

While thanking members of the delegation for their kind words of encouragement, he remarked that his Administration is open to suggestions and advice from any quarter at all times that will assist in taking Abuja to enviable heights.

Speaking earlier, the President of Bwatiye Community Development Association, Mr. Mohammed Mahassei, described the FCT Minister as an honest and hardworking person that can effectively tackle the challenges of the time the Territory is facing.

The President praised Malam Bello for his efforts at sanitizing the FCT Administration and improving staff performances; adding, “As residents of the FCT, we will contribute our quota to make your Administration successful, including your vision of making Abuja a viable capital city”.
