The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) will strive to make the Abuja University of Technology, Abaji (AUTA) ready for academic activities soon. 

 

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, gave this assurance while inspecting the on-going work and facilities so far provided at the proposed University in Abaji. 

 

The Minister who was accompanied on the visit by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye, said that the Administration would meet with the members of the Ministerial Implementation Committee on AUTA, led by Professor Buba Bajoga to see how the University will come on stream.

 

His words: “My visit today is to inspect the work here in this very University and to go and see the gully erosion inside Abaji town which is threatening many houses and then to drive on this road, down to the bank of River Gurara to see how we can assist to link up some FCT communities on the other side of the river bank.”

 

According to him, “I am here to see everything so that when the officials bring the files, I know what action to take. The visit is expected to aid our decision making.” 

 

Malam Bello while addressing the jubilant crowd that received him on arrival, urged the residents to continue to pray for the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for God to continue to give him the wisdom to steer the sheep of leadership.

 

The Minister also visited the River Gurara in Abaji Area Council where the people around the River bank appealed to the Minister to help construct a bridge to connect some of the FCT communities on the other side of the river. 

 

The Minister also inspected the gully erosion sites in Abaji Township threatening some houses in the area.

 

He reiterated that his Administration needs first-hand knowledge to ensure that adequate plans are made to provide solution to the challenges being faced by the people.

 

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Abaji Area Council, Abdulrahman Ajiya described the visit as historic and thanked the Minister for his thoughtfulness.

 

He thus, appealed to the Minister to help complete work on the proposed University in order to commence academic activities in earnest.
