PRESS RELEASE:KOREA MODEL SCHOOL READY SOON – FCT MINISTER

                                                         

The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello has given assurances that the Korea Model School being built in Abuja via multilateral cooperation between Nigeria and the Korean government will be ready by the third quarter of this year.

 

The Minister gave this assurance while receiving the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Noh Kyu Duk today in Abuja, when the diplomat paid him a courtesy visit.

 

Malam Bello who expressed satisfaction with the progress of work so far at the project site along the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway (Airport road) said the FCT Administration is providing all necessary support to the engineers and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to ensure that the project is completed and commissioned by the third quarter of 2017.

 

The Minister added that issues of infrastructure delivery and other physical obstructions are also being addressed by the FCT Administration to ensure successful completion of the project.

 

According to him, “Myself, the Permanent Secretary and all the team here will continue to give you all the full support to be able to continue this project so that by the third quarter of this year, we should be able to open the school”.

 

“I noticed of course that there are outstanding issues, like infrastructure delivery and maybe physical removal of some obstructions. I will discuss more with our Permanent Secretary and the Engineers. We will try as much as possible to make sure it is sorted out as quickly as possible,” he stressed.

 

The Minister equally called on the Country Director, KOICA, Mrs. Sook Hyun Park to bring to his notice any challenge being faced by the project executors so that immediate solution can be proffered to address such challenges.

 

Malam Bello thanked the Korean Government for the training it has been providing to teachers and other government officials in the FCT, as well as other bilateral projects it is executing in Nigeria through KOICA; saying these gestures have helped to improve and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

 

Speaking earlier, the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Noh Kyu Duk appreciated the cooperation his Embassy and KOICA have been receiving from the FCT Administration; saying that such cooperating is positively reflecting on the bilateral projects being undertaken.

 

Also speaking at the occasion, the Country Director/Regional Representative of KOICA, Mrs. Sook Hyun Park said that all efforts would be put in to deliver the project as planned inclusive of school equipment and materials.
