The United Nations Women (UN) Team visit Adamawa on a training tour to Women and youths in a collaborative effort of Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, UNICEF, EU and Adamawa State Government.
The aim is to make enlightenment on the dangers of political thuggery and drugs abuse as while promoting Women engagement in peace and security in whole of Northern Nigeria targeting Adamawa, Gombe and Plateau states.
Participants which where drawn from LGAs of Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha and Numan during the training were warned on the dangers of Political Thuggery and Drugs abuse among the Youths.
One of the facilitators, Hajiya Kade Suleiman Sapwa said political thuggery is capable of constituting a major threat to national security bringing low turn out of eligible voters during election time for fear of harassment and molestation. According to her, the end result brings about unqualified and incredible people manning the affairs of a community which might sometimes cause a serious doubt on the credibility of the purported leader they elected before the eyes of the Local and International Communities.
She revealed that thuggery will force unwanted leaders to the governs. This however might at the end of the day end up resulting bad and hard to lead as a result of the thuggery acts of the unruly youths.
According to Mr. Kolu Malik a resource person in the program said politicians all over the world are mostly desperadoes, wanting the game to be in their favor by hook or crook thereby turning politics to a game of do or die affairs and making thuggery to be characteristics element in Nigerian style of politics.
The representative of National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Miss. Mosoti O. Mathias told participants how drugs can be abused by displaying different types of drugs to the watchful eyes of hundreds youths in attendance.
