 Mr. Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has taken over the reins of bureaucracy.

Mr. Ohaa, a bureaucrat and accountant with many years of experience in the control, prevention and detection of fraud in public sector, arrived office at about 10.00 a.m where he was received by the Director, Human Resources, Amina Abubakar and Director, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Samuel U. Atang.

Mr. Christian Ohaa is next in the distinguished line of Permanent Secretaries who have served in the FCT, as he is taking over on the heels of Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye who retired on 4th August having put in the mandatory requirement of 35 years.

Mr. Ohaa, until his new posting, was Permanent Secretary, Common Services, in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation with a proven track record in both private and public sectors.

He was born on the 4th of February, 1961 and hails from Obuoffia, Awkunanaw, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

At a time, he was Permanent Secretary, in Federal Ministry of Sports and Youths Development, where he recorded some feats in the country’s football administration. Some of these led to both national and international laurels.

Also, as Permanent Secretary, in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, he deployed to the fullest his many years of accounting and financial experience.

He started his working career in 1985 with the then Co-operative and Commerce Bank of Nigeria Limited, where he did his one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

During his early years in service, Mr. Ohaa served variously as Senior Bursar, Enugu State Education Commission(1986-1989),Company’s Accountant for Vanguard Industries Limited, Enugu State(1989-1992) and Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Finance, Enugu State(1992-1993).

He was also Sub-Treasurer; Treasury Headquarters; Office of Accountant General, Enugu State (1996-1999) from where he rose to the position of Accountant General of the State in 1999, a position he held until 2006, when he was appointed Commissioner for Agriculture.

As Accountant General of Enugu State, Mr. Ohaa blocked all forms of financial leakages in the State, thereby mopping up funds for much needed development.

In a bid to also broaden his service to the nation; having contributed his bit to the development strides of Enugu State; Mr. Ohaa, thereafter transferred his service to the Federal Civil Service and was appointed Deputy Director (Accounts), Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity (2007-2009); Head, Internal Audit, Ministry of Defence (2009-2012), Director, Finance and Accounts (2012-2013), Federal Ministry of Transport, Director, Finance and Accounts, Federal Ministry of Water Resources(2013-2015).

He became Permanent Secretary in November 2015.

The new Permanent Secretary holds an MBA in Banking and Finance, with membership of several professional bodies such as: Fellow National Accountant of Nigeria (FCNA), Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), among others.

Mr. Ohaa, who is happily married and blessed with children, is determined to deploy his wealth of experience to advance the change mantra of President Muhammadu Buhari in line with the strategies of the present FCT Administration under the able leadership of Malam Muhammad Musa Bello.
