The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have expressed satisfaction with the performance of the FCT Administration in the provision of infrastructure in the Territory.

The President of the Association, Dr. Michael Olarewaju   gave the thumps up on Friday in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the FCT Permanent Secretary in his office.

Dr. Olarewaju further commended the leadership of the FCT Administration for opening up Karu General Hospital and Zuba Cottage hospital, adding that these two hospitals would ease the pressure on existing hospitals in the Territory.

He said: “The Association is pleased with the leadership of the FCTA, and especially with the FCT Minister and the Permanent Secretary, for the projects completed so far, some of which were hitherto abandoned projects, and also for the new projects. There is a visible improvement in the FCT, as a City compared to what has happened over the last few years.”

Dwelling on the recent establishment of the in-house Residency Training programme by the Administration, Dr.Olarewaju remarked that the programme has made FCTA hospitals more attractive to Doctors, in addition to substantially curtailing the attrition rate among Resident Doctors in the FCT.

In his response, the FCT Permanent Secretary, Mr. Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa thanked the Association for always opting for peaceful approach in pressing home their demands.

Mr. Ohaa further charged the Association to see their profession as a divine mandate to serve humanity, stressing that no amount of money can compensate their service.

The Permanent Secretary assured the Association that the FCT Administration would continue to pursue policies and programmes that will improve health care delivery in the Territory.

In another development, the Permanent Secretary, has charged the Association of Nurses and Midwives in FCT to consider their profession as a sacred duty to serve God and humanity.

The Permanent Secretary gave the charge in his office on Friday when the Association paid him a courtesy visit.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Association, Comrade Deborah Yusuf told the Permanent Secretary that the essence of the visit was to acquaint themselves with the Permanent Secretary and pledge their readiness to work with the Administration.
