Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Permanent Secretary, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa has assured the management, shop owners, traders and development partners of Wuye Ultra-Modern Market that FCT Administration would build an overhead bridge and other necessary infrastructure required in the Market from next year.

The Permanent Secretary, who gave the assurance on Wednesday in Abuja during the second edition of the annual trade-fair of the market, further remarked that the FCT Administration has already opened up some new critical roads to the market.

Sir Ohaa also used the occasion to call on shop owners to come forth and open up their shops for business and to further create awareness of one-stop neighborhood market for consummables, without fear or intimidation.

He said: “We are doing our best.We will ensure we provide the necessary infrastructure. We have already opened up some new roads to the market. We will also ensure we include in next year budget the construction of flyover.

“I also want to use this opportunity to call all shop owners to seize this moment to come and open up their shops for business without any fear”

The Permanent Secretary further assured residents of the Territory that the present FCT leadership would continue to work assiduously to uplift their living standard, while urging them to remain law abiding and also support all the policies and programmes of government.

Earlier, in his remarks, Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Mr.Wenegieme Idowu Joe praised the architectural and engineering dexterity exhibited in the design and construction of the market, adding that its aesthetics and functionality is considered the best in the Federal Capital Territory in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

It would be recalled that Wuye Ultra-Modern Market was among the four Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) arrangements by FCTA to provide vibrant economic activities for the growth and development of Abuja since 2003 to early 2014 when it was commissioned.

The market has state-of-the-art facilities such as clinic and fire station that serves the entire Wuye District. It also has primary facilities like meat stall, farmers market, GSM/computer repair shops, cold rooms, among others.

The geographical location of the market is an added advantage, as it takes less than three minutes’ drive from Utako District to the market and less than ten minutes’ drive from Asokoro, Garki,Maitama,Jabi and some parts of Apo and Gudu Districts.

The market can also be easily accessible to neighboring farming communities in Masaka, Kuje,Gwagwalada,Abaji, among others.
