NEWS:Fake Medical Dr Alledgely Killed 15 Patients in Adamawa

The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has said that 15 patients lost their lives from a fake medical doctor in State.

Governor Fintiri revealed this at the ongoing ministerial briefing on Wednesday, 19 June at the Chambers Hall in Government House, Yola.

The fake medical doctor whose name was not revealed was said to have been employed by the immediate past administration in August 2015 and since then he was parading himself as a qualified medical doctor and he has performed several surgery on patients in Mayo-Belwa and Fufore, the later where he was arrested, among other places he was deployed.

It was also revealed that the fake doctor was a Laboratory Technician but was employed  as medical doctor and qualified as a surgeon. He was arrested yesterday 18 June.

Governor Fintiri therefore ordered screening of medical doctors in the State to get rid of fake ones in order to safe lives of the people of Adamawa State.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Kenedy D. Bartimawus in his report said that some of the Adamawa indigenes who were given scholarship to study Pharmacy and Medicine did not return to practice the profession in the state after completion of their study. Adding that presently, 86 Doctors and Pharmacists are on training.

The Permanent Secretary reiterated that a committee will be set up to uncover the reason why those who were giving scholarship by the State violated the agreement they signed.
