The Wife of the President Hajiya Aishatu Muhammadu Buhari has today being Wednesday 11th June, 2019 launched an empowerment programme to 2000 Vulnerable Women and youths at the Banquet Hall of the State Government House, Yola. Pet Project of the First Lady, Future Assured in collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) funded the gesture.
Dr. Aishatu Buhari in a remark said, the programme was designed to empower women and young men with necessary skills to enable them become self reliant in the society. She explained that her Pet Project has also built an ultramodern maternity centre at the Federal Medical Centre FMC Yola in order to reduce maternal and infant mortality rate in the state.
The First Lady had also applauded the efforts if His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting into Law the National Health Act which will bring rapid transformation in the health sector across the country.
Similarly, Aisha Buhari had also commissioned the Green Schools Initiative Notere at the Aliyu Mustafa College Yola in order to set up demonstration farms that will be used to teach students modern Agricultural techniques and practices.
His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on the other hand called on the first lady to facilitate the conversion of Modibbo Adama University of Technology, Yola into a conventional one for the development of education in the state. He assured that the State Government under his watch will continue to count on her especially in the areas of developmental programmes.
Director General National Directorate of Employment NDE Dr.Nasir Muhammad Ladan Argungu in a remark commended the First Lady's supports to NDE adding that its collaboration with Future Assured will empower more women who will benefit from micro economic investment scheme.
He further disclosed that five hundred and fifty women and young men will be trained on various skills, while 400 will be trained on cosmetology and 50 will be trained through the mobile workshop of the NDE.
