Youths and women in the ruling Peoples
Democratic Party in Adamawa State have been assured of sixty percent slot for the
seat of Councillors in the next Local Government election in the State as the
Peoples Democratic Party Local Government Chairmen will be sworn-in as Local
Government Areas Chairmen.
This was revealed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru
Fintiri of Adamawa State during the Adamawa State PDP Stakeholders’ meeting held
at the Banquet Hall, Government House Yola.
The Governor who enjoined the party members
to be just and fair in the selection of the 15 best party members from each of
the 21 LGAs for appointment in his administration, reiterated that only those
who work for the success of the party will be appointed.
He emphasised that in the next 90 days, election will hold in the State for Local Government Areas and by next Monday
the election guide lines will be ready as the State House of Assembly has
already amended the Local Government Establishment Law 2004 as amended and the
Governor has assented last week.
Governor Fintiri assured the party
loyalists free and fair Primary election for selection of its candidates for
the next LGA poll, and assured the party winning the poll through free and fair
election.
He however said that all the PDP’s Chairmen
in the 21 LGAs will be sworn-in as Local Government Chairmen tomorrow at 2:00pm
at the Government House Yola. The party therefore agreed that those to be
sworn-in would not contest in the forth coming LGA election.
Earlier, the State Chairman of Peoples
Democratic Party, Barr. A.T. Shehu said that the past administration had created
a vacuum in the 21 LGAs of the State which the present administration is
necessitated to filled.
Barr. Shehu said the Party has gathered its
Stakeholders for a meeting for the 2nd time since the inauguration
of Governor Fintiri, to fulfilled the promise the seating Governor made during
his campaign. One of it was to carry the party alone which he said it is now a
fulfilled promise as exhibited in the series of the stakeholders meeting held.
While in his vote of thanks on behalf of
the party statesmen, Auwal Tukur thanked Governor AUF for carrying all the
party members alone and exhibiting fair and just in the local government
transition committee selection process and the stakeholders’ meeting which
involved all the party statesmen.
He called on the party executive at the
Local Government to ward levels to emulate same so as to carry all the party
members alone.
