As teachers all over the world celebrate teachers day, the Adamawa State Governor. His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri charged teachers to take education serious and impact greatly on the lives of students.
The Deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth who represented the Governor disclosed this Saturday at the occasion of world Teachers Day with the theme "Young Teachers, Future of the Profession''. Seth, said that this administration has taken into consideration the issue of education so serious, and has since created enabling environment for students by declaring free and compulsory education for all it's citizen.
He however, assured the teachers of government's support and cooperation towards boasting of educational system that will accommodate all and sundry. Also, he assured that the present administration is committed to meeting their demands which include, minimum wage, promotions,among others.
Earlier, the Adamawa State Chairman of the Nigerian Union of teachers Comrade, Rodney Nathan said Government across the world need to focus on, among other things employing young modern and qualified teachers to sustain the profession and create enabling environment for the younger generation.
According to him, teaching is a very important business and it is a job which entails trust of parents, community and government, but over the years, successive government have turned a blind eyes which have negatively affected the profession
Nathan called on all concern to appreciate teachers' effort in uplifting the standard of education, promising to put in their best to key into government policies and programs.
Member House Representative, Abdulrazak Namdas, on behalf of the awardees appreciated the NUT for the award of Excellence and performance given to them, adding that education should be given top priority.
There were goodwill messages from the Chairman of NLC, acting Chairman of Post Primary Schools Board, amongst others.
The ceremony include, presentation of awards, drama etc.
