The Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has paid a surprise visit to Government Secondary School Gombi and promise to effect infrastructural development in the school.
Governor Fintiri who was accompanied by high Government officials in the state to GSS Gombi located at the periphery of Gombi town in Gombi Local Government Area, told students of GSS Gombi that his administration is doing its best in the education sector.
He assured them that his government will fence the school to give it more security cover. “We will do our best to see that we have improve on the infrastructure in this school (GSS Gombi). The security we noticed is so porous and we will immediately commence the fencing of this school” Governor Fintiri said.
The number one citizen of the state was impressed with the feeding of the students having his administration starts free feeding programme in all public secondary schools in Adamawa State. “We have seen that the feeding committee of this school is doing pretty well. The food that we’ve seen today that will be provided for our students is so nutritious and good” Governor Fintiri noted.
Governor Fintiri charge the students to continue to behave accordingly and support their teachers so that they will continue to provide the best for them while he assured that his Government will continue to provide all the necessary requirements to public schools so as to make Adamawa students the best in Nigeria.
“We will do everything to build the elites of tomorrow from among you, and we expect in next few years we get the Governor of Adamawa and the President of Nigeria among you” Governor Fintiri prayed for the students.
While wishing all the students who will write West Africa Examination Council and National Examination Council examinations in the state that was paid by his Governmemt, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri hinted the students that in this month 2,000 qualified teachers will be employed by his administration to fill the vacuum in science and other relevant subject teachers in the school.
Earlier in an interactive session with the students, the Head Boy of GSS Gombi, Abdullahi Sale who spoke on behalf of the students told Governor Fintiri that the students are facing some challenges in their study. The challenges he mentioned are: inadequate hostels, no light to enable them study at night and no enough teachers among others.
Adding that they only have one Chemistry and one Physics teachers who teaches students from SSS 1 to SSS3 in the school.
The Head Boy however applauded and satisfied the feeding of the students in the school.
Highlight of the visit was taken round the Governor and his entourage by the Principal GSS Gombi, Alh. Idris Samari for inspection of the school’s infrastructure and the kitchen where the students’ food was prepared.
