Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has decried the deplorable condition of Government Secondary School Jada, describing the condition unfortunate.
The Governor who was in Jada to assess the condition of the school, said all public schools in the state has similar condition with that of GSS Jada which has no roof, laboratories, furniture, libraries, hostels, above all students study under tree among the worst conditions.
Worried by this, while addressing exit students at GSS Jada, Governor Fintiri made these assurances and give hope to the future leaders in his words:
“They (public schools in Adamawa) are in total decay, that is what we inherited. We have to apologise on behalf of the last administration. They have failed this government” Governor Fintiri decried.
“But in sha Allah, that we have gone through this situation in the past, and we are here today by the grace of Allah, we’ll also make the condition habitable for you (students) to grow and become like us tomorrow.
“When we came, we decided to pull the bull by the horn to ensure that we provide the necessary palliative; a necessary condition under the difficult situation for you to learn and become the leaders of tomorrow.
“We have been feeding you free, we paid your NECO and WAEC fee. We have taken over your school fee from your parents, but I want to tell you that to whom much is giving, much is expected.
“What we expect from you is starting from your first exams on Monday, you pass with good grades.
“Am here as your Governor, as your father, am assuring you that once you pass your exams, we will as well give you scholarship to continue your education.
“But above all, by the time you come back to collect your results, the situation of this school will change for better
“This is one the schools we have earmarked among the several model schools in Adamawa to have a total renovation and expansion.
“I wish you the best of luck, success in your exams and I wish you success in your personal endeavour” the Governor concluded.
The Governor has equally inspect Government Science School Jada to assess the condition.
Earlier, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commission a Primary Health Care Health centre and laid a foundation block for the construction of a mini stadium named after the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar. The two projects were sponsored by Jada Local Government Council.
