Governors of the North East region have restated their support to the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to enable it carry out its statutory functions.



The six Governors who were in Maiduguri for the second summit of the forum before departing the Borno State capital took time to visit the corporate headquarters of the commission on Sunday.



Chairman of the forum, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State reminded the management that it is a child of necessity established to enhance recovery and stabilization of the troubled region. 



He said the idea was not only to provide infrastructure, but also to ensure the enhancement of the livelihood of the people and will not accept anything short of getting the maximum benefit of the Commission.



While also assuring the management of necessary support towards meeting its objectives, the chairman of the Governors forum, Prof Babagana Zulum disclosed that interventions to the respective states must be done in a demand driven approach through interfacing with the Commission in the conception of ideas and implementation of same.



The Managing Director of the North East Development Commission, Mohammed Bunu who commended Borno State Government for donating an office complex and piece of land for its permanent office building promised to ensure consultation and synergy with the Governors to ensure the region regains its place of pride as a a great area blessed with abundant human and natural resources that can grow its economy.



Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State together with the other regional Governors were also conducted round the corporate headquarters building.
The Governors have since departed Maiduguri.
