The fresh Air team of Adamawa state has qualified for the 2023 National Youths Games which is slated on the 17th of September, 2023 following their victory in nine sports at the just concluded zonal elimination that took place in Damaturu the Yobe State capital.
The elimination exercise had in attendance all the States from the Northeast zone. During the competition, team Adamawa qualified in Basketball (male and female), beach volleyball (female), football (female), handball (male and female) hockey (female) and volleyball (male and female).
Receiving the contingent at the Adamawa State Secretariat complex, the Honourable Commissioner Ministry of Youths and Sports, Barrister Yakubu Wakili applauded spirit of team work and sportsmanship exhibited by the Adamawa contingents at the event which led to the success story.
He said, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration is all inclusive ready to promote every developmental activities in the state. The Commissioner therefore urged them to work hard towards the forthcoming competition in order to make Adamawa win more laurels.
While presenting the contingents, the Acting Director, Adamawa State Sports Council, Mr Daniel Ahmed who could not hold his joy thanked the Executive Governor, His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for giving him the opportunity to serve. He describe sports as a unifier and
appreciated the present administration for supporting sports which he believes will go along way in reducing ills in the society.
He also appeal for early camping and release of fun to enable athletes prepare well. The Acting Director also urged the athletes to mentain the tempo.
