The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved thirty nine billion, six hundred and sixty one million, nine hundred and forty thousand, seven hundred and seven naira, sixty three Kobo supplementary budget to be sent to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.


The state EXCO made the approval, Thursday in their inaugural meeting of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's second term in office.


The meeting was presided by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Council Chambers, Government House Yola.


Briefing Government House Yola Correspondents after the meeting, the new Commissioner Ministry of Education, Dr Umar Garba Pella disclosed that following the subsidy removal, the state is anticipating a surge in the state revenue of thirty nine billion, three hundred and sixty one million, nine hundred and fourteen thousand, seven hundred and seven naira, sixty three Kobo.


According to Dr Pella, the only way to successfully accommodate the new surge in the revenue is to expand the budget basket of the State. Adding, considering this, the State EXCO has made the approval to send the supplementary budget to the State House of Assembly.
He stated that the earlier 2023 appropriation budget sent to the State House of Assembly was one hundred and seventy five billion, nineteen million, fifty four thousand naira. He said with the  supplementary budget, the 2023 appropriation budget will be two hundred and fourteen billion, three hundred and eighty million, six hundred and sixty eight thousand, seven hundred and sixty seven naira, sixty three Kobo.


Dr Pella also disclosed that the EXCO has approved five hundred and forty eight million, seven hundred and thirty thousand naira and four hundred and thirty million, four hundred and seventy thousand naira for the procurement of 2,100 metric tons of maize and 900 metric tons of fertilizer respectively from the Federal Government to be distributed to the citizens of Adamawa at a price that will be drastically subsidized.


He said this decision is to key into the FG declaration of State of Emergency on food security in the country considering the hardship the citizenry are currently facing.
The Commissioner further disclosed that the EXCO has approved four hundred and forty two million, five hundred and sixty thousand naira for the  procurement of six metric tons of Nigeria mill rice to be distributed to the people.


Dr Umar Garba Pella revealed that the final approval the EXCO made in the meeting was the approval of six hundred and seventy five million naira for the procurement of 3,000 5kg of Sahel NPK 20-10-10 fertilizer to be sold to the Civil Servants at the price that is highly subsidized.


He said the Government has already discussed with the Nigeria Labour Congress in the State on how the product will reach the intended beneficiaries.
