Adamawa State Government has approved the sum of One point Five Billion Naira for the construction of 2.9 kilometer Storm Water Drainages in Saminaka community of Yola South Local Government Area.

This was part of the resolution reached at the Executive Council meeting presided over by the Acting Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta Wednesday at the Council Chamber, Government House Yola.


The Commissioner Ministry of Information and Strategy Neido Geoffrey Kofulto informed Journalists shortly after the Council meeting that the approval for the construction of 2.9 Storm Water Drainages was necessary considering the repeated havoc cause by flood in Saminaka community due to lack of drainage systems.

According to her, the Council also agreed to stage massive tree planting campaign across the State in view of the dangers posed by the indiscriminate cutting of trees by people.

The Commissioner further revealed that the State Government has already received Two Billion Naira out of the Five Billion palliative expected from the Federal Government.

In their separate contributions to shade more light on the issues discussed at the Council Meeting, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Debelopment, Adamu Atiku and that of the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Reintegration, Barrister Bello Hamman Diram explained that the contract for the construction of 2.9 kilometer Water Drainages at Saminaka is awarded to Triacta Construction company with the stipulated time frame of six months.

They reiterated that the state Government is mindful of the current situation, hence the palliative measures to cushion the effects of the current hardship experienced by the citizens.
