Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has donated five hundred naira to each of the ten shop owners whose fire razed down their shops in Yola market.
The Governor while making on the spot visit at the ancient city market, promised to construct the market to give it a new facelift with modern facilities.
The Governor lamented on the structures in the market, said that his administration will not continue to watch the market being in a condition that will be a hazard to the citizenry.
Governor Fintiri who was accompanied by top government officials and some Service Commanders in the State, sympathized with the victims of the Inferno and called on the people to embrace one another and live in peace.
Taken the Governor round the market, the Vice Chairman Yola South LGA, Hon. Nathaniel Pagiel disclosed that the fire razed down a section in the market between 9 and 10pm of Monday. Saying that the fire fighters where able curtailed the fire and stopped it from escalating further.
He commended security agencies in Yola for providing security in and around the market to stop looting of marketers' goods.
Hon. Pagiel stated that on their part, the Local Government Council has constituted a committee to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak and the level of damages the fire caused on the businessmen's shops, to enable them respond accordingly.
