Adamawa State Handball team won a trophy at the division one open - championship at Asaba, Delta State. The team was at the State Ministry of Youth and Sports in the company of the management of the Adamawa Sports Council to present the trophy and gold medal won at the just concluded Open Championships at Asaba in Delta State today being the first day of August, 2023.
The Acting Executive Director for Sports Council, Mr Daniel expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for its support and a special recommendations to the Adamawa handball team. He applauded them for their efforts which he said is remarkable. In 2020, the team won a silver and in this year's Championship, they won a trophy and a gold medal. Their performance he said is surprisingly of great esteem which attracted more winning. He commended the goal keeper, David Moses adding that he was the best, the highest gold scorer is Sapwa Friday and the most valuable player, Radu Edison.
The Adamawa handball team have been called for camping at NHF which includes six players, they are expected to enter the camp soon. The Acting Director pleaded with the Ministry for more financial support for them to attend the zonal elimination. He appreciated the players for their efforts and the zeal they've shown throughout the competition, adding that the fire should not quench for better tomorrow.
The Permanente Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Muktar Aminu Tukur appreciated His Excellency, Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri , the ATM and the Youth Governor for the privilege , he appreciated the management of Adamawa Sports Council, the coaches and the Ministry for its support towards the successful victory.
He expressed his overwhelmed joy as it was seen all over his face and appreciated the players for the effort being put to bring good name to the State. He pleaded with them to keep the tempor high for a great future awaits them. He promised to support them for the betterment of the state. A token was given to the players on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as the State Sport Council.
On the other hand, the representative of the players, Mr Clinton Kiki thanked the Executive Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the State Sports Council as well as their their coaches for the show of love and believing in them. Three Gbosa were given to them in appreciation. He promised that the team will give nothing but its best to make the state proud.
The Assistants Director of Youth, Mr Illiya congratulated the players and wished them success in their career and that the sky will be their starting point.
