The Adamawa State Government is to Partner With the National Information Technology Development Agency ( NITDA ) for the development of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in the State.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who disclosed this at a one day stakeholders engagement ecosystem development programme organised by NITDA in collaboration with the Adamawa State Government held at City Green hotel Yola recently, with a theme Creating opportunities, breaking boundaries, towards Digitization and Enterprenueriial evolution.
The Governor who was ably represented by the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government Honourable Auwal D. Tukur said all the necessary approaches has been concluded and a Bill has already been sponsored by the government for Legislative backing for the establishment of the Adamawa State Information Technology Development Agency (ADSITDA) .
While calling on the stakeholders to come out with a concrete resolutions that would enhance the development of ICT in the state, describing ICT sectors as unquantifiable and unlimited in terms of development and appealing to the stakeholders to engage people and create jobs from the sector.
Earlier the NITDA Director General Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi who was represented by the Director for standard guidelines and frame work Mr. Oladejo Oluwumi explained that the one day workshop was aimed at equipping participants with basic knowledge on regulations and to improve the developmental initiative on ICT activities. Mr. Olade ladejo Oluwumi emphasised that modern digital technology has changed the boundaries in ICT sector and called on the relevant stakeholders to fully contribute their quota so as to add more values in country's economy.
He also explained that the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) was drawn with the objective of Leveraging digital technology for economic growth and development.
Stakeholders brainstormed on adaption of digital transformation, Data protection and National security, Emerging technologies, Digital inclusion and Innovation and Enterprenuership.
Goodwill messages were received from AUN, Experts on ICT, Members from the Academia amongst others.
Communique was later presented at the end of the stakeholders engagement with the call on the participants to ensure the development of ICT sectors is fully developed in order to shape the society and enhance the economic growth of the nation.
