No fewer than 19 shops in Gombi grains Market were destroyed by fire, the incident which occurred on Thursday evening was said to have started at about 5pm.
 
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri,  represented by his Deputy, Professor Keletapwa George Faurata, was in Gombi Local Government Area on Saturday, to sympathised with the community and traders who loss grains worth Millions of Naira to the fire outbreak.

The Governor described the situation as devastating, considering the huge Loss and its effects on the economy of the community, and the entire people of Adamawa

He cautioned against indiscriminate bush burning, particularly in the business or residential areas, advising that fire should be discharged only when the temperature is cool and it should be monitor.

While on a visit to grains Market in Gombi, Governor Fintiri, made a call on the 21 Local Government Chairmen on the need for them to enlighten the people at the grassroots on the manner they handle fire especially during this dry and harmattan season.

Earlier, the District Head, Usman Ibrahim Sarkinfada thanked the Government for identifying with his community in such a trying moment.

Abdurahman Dauda, Chairman Gombi Local Government Area, led the Government delegation round to inspect the ongoing construction project of shops in the Market.
