WASH UPDATE: State Government in Partnership with USAID and Mercy Corps Organizes Sector Roundtable Workshop on Implementation of Approved WASH Policy for Adamawa.

In line with his 8 points agenda, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency  RT. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has signed the Harmonised Water Resource and WASH Policy Document on the 7th December 2023. 

The policy aims to achieve effective Water Resources Management and the provision of adequate sustainable and safely managed water supply, sanitation and hygiene services at affordable cost to the people of Adamawa State towards improving the health, better educational outcomes and socio-economic well - being of the people.

In view this, a workshop was organised by USAID and MERCY CORPS in collaboration with the State Ministry of Water Resources to Review the WASH Policy implementation Document, review the draft WASH Policy implementation guideline, to set out timeline for immediate implementation of the Short term plans and Strategize on dissemination of the Harmonised WASH Policy (into local languages).

In his opening remark, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources, Honourable Audu Tanko Ayuba stated that, the Adamawa State WASH Policy seeks to provide a clear pathway for coordinated engagement of sectoral stakeholders towards the provision of water supply sanitation and hygiene services to  urban, small town and rural population in the State. He thanked the Executive Governor for signing the WASH Policy Document and also extend his heart felt gratitude to all the WASH Partners and Stakeholders for their commitment to seeing a better Adamawa. He enjoined the Media Houses in the State to educate the public on the importance of the WASH Policy and it's Implementation.
