Adamawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring proper documentation of customers, installation of CCTV Cameras amongst other safety measures, across hostels in the State.

Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, stated this on Tuesday the 20th February, 2024 in her office, while receiving the report of the committee set up to investigate the circumstances behind the beheading of a lady in one of the hotels in the State Capital.

Professor Keletapwa, commended  the effort put in by the 7 man committee, saying the submission of the report came at the right time.

Farauta said, State Government  will remain fervent at enforcing suitable approach towards ensuring security of lives and property. She added that directive has been given earlier, by the State Government for those in hostels business to ensure proper documentation of customers, installation of CCTV cameras in their business premises, among other safety measures.

Therefore, Professor Keletapwa Farauta, commended the committee for adhering to the terms of reference, insists that Government will not fold its arms while innocent citizens are being murdered under any guise.

The commissioner for culture and tourism, Honourable Aloysius Babadoke while submitting the report noted that the ministry constituted the committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder of a lady in a hotel and proffer solutions. 

While acknowledging that there is a significant compliance to the directives given regarding the installation of CCTV cameras in hotels among other measures, he said the ministry has intensified sensitization to help in that regard, while investigation is still ongoing 

The committee in the report recommended close monitoring of hotels across the State by the relevant authorities and appreciated Governor Fintiri's effort in addressing security issues in the State.

It could be recalled that Adamawa State Government on 22nd January, 2024 has summoned and directed those engaged in hotel business to ensure the installation of CCTV cameras, and adoption of some safety measures such as proper documentation within six weeks or face sanction in its swift response to the verybad act.
