On Wednesday, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State hosted Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the head of Nigeria's army, at the Governor's Mansion in Yola.

General Lagbaja was on a working visit to the state to inspect the 23rd Armored Brigade stationed in Yola.

Governor Fintiri thanked General Lagbaja for taking the time to visit Adamawa and see the security situation for himself. He also praised Brigadier General PK Zawaya, the commander of the 23rd Brigade, for his quick response whenever there are security threats.

The Governor promised his government would keep working closely with the Nigerian Army to improve security in the state. While admitting there are still security challenges in areas like the Gombi and Garkida regions in the north, as well as conflicts between farmers and herders in the Numan area, Governor Fintiri stressed his commitment to finding solutions.

Earlier, General Lagbaja told the Governor that he had met with the 23rd Brigade and been briefed on the state's security situation. He thanked the Governor for his continued support to the army units in Adamawa and requested that this help continue. General Lagbaja assured the Governor that the Army is fully committed to its duty of protecting the lives and property of the people of Adamawa.
