The Adamawa State Government has renovated the near abandoned orphanage and daycare center. The Orphanage is situated at no 1 karewa old GRA . It was
established in the year 1991, basically to provide protection, care and
support to the abandoned, trafficked, lost and children whose parents cannot be traced either due to disasters or insurgency.
The home suffered a serious neglect by successive regimes,
until
the advent of Gov. Muhammad Umar Jibirilla’s administration who
injected a new lease of life into the home through improvement of
infrastructure and provision of state of the art
facilities.
The centre is now conducive for learning and sustainable
growth, bearing in mind that the environment which a child grows in greatly influences his or her behaviour. Supervision of the entire project work was undertaken by the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The centre can now boast of a Borehole, Standby
Generator, Overhead tank, Grinding machine, Modern Beds and Seats. The
centre is also blessed with renovated Dormitories, a Clinic, School and
Day Care Centre.
The People of the state were indeed appreciative of the gesture of the wife of the Governor Her Excellency Hajiya Maryam Muhammadu Umaru Jibirlla for
demonstrating a motherly concern, and ensuring successful completion of the
project.
