Federal Ministry of Health donates anti-rabies
vaccines to Adamawa State, delivering the vaccines on behalf of the Permanent
Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. (Mrs) Amina M.B. Shamaki, Mrs. Nercy Pany says the
Ministry deemed it necessary to donate this anti-rabies vaccines to health
institutions in State to mark the recent world rabies day celebrations with a
theme: “Together Against Rabies” in
order to mitigate against the impact course by the rabies infection and ensure
that no dead is recorded.
Dr. Amina said, Rabies is a zoonotic viral
infection transmitted to humans via bite of infected animals, mostly dogs and can
manifests as an acute Meningeoncophalities resulting in to
victim’s death.
She added that, the vaccines are to be positioned
for free treatment, and can only be administered to the victims of rabid dog
and cat bite.
Receiving the vaccines on behalf of his Excellency
Governor Mohammadu Umar Jirilla Bindow, the Honorable Commissioner, State
Ministry of Health Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar expressed her profound
appreciation and says, Federal Ministry of Health is the Mother Ministry of all
Health Institutions in the country and call on other relevant bodies and
partners to emulate the gesture.
In another development, the Honorable
Commissioner, approves the constitutions of a seven man committee investigate
the source and supply of drugs and equipment’s to Specialist Hospital, Yola.
The terms of reference of the committee are to:
i.
Secure the
report of the last committee on the drugs and equipment for and on behalf of
the State Ministry of Health
ii.
Establish the
sources of the drugs and equipment’s
iii.
Establish the
ownership of the drugs and equipment
iv.
Come up with
the details of the condition of the drugs and equipment
v.
Come up with
the quantum and approximate cost of the existing drugs in the store
vi.
Recommend to
the Ministry the ideal steps to follow in addressing the problems
Membership of the Committee consists of the
