Welcome To The Official Blog Of Adamawa Ministry Of Information

The Emergency Coordinator, Lily Caldwell and her counterpart Emergency Medical Coordinator, Livia Tampellini of Belgium Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) are on familiarisation visit to Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

The duo came ready to support the on-going Humanitarian Health Response to Boko Haram insurgency victims and their host communities with necessary health care services, particularly in the seven most affected Northern Local Government Areas of Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Hong and Gombi.

The Médecins Sans Frontières of Belgium representatives discussed with the Chairman, Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Abdullahi Belel on the possibility of supporting the on-going emergency health response and agreed to commence the support through strengthening of the existing response team stationed at Mubi General Hospital but covering the entire seven affected LGAs as mobile health team.

The Honourable Commissioner of Health, Dr Fatima Atiku Abubakar, commended the laudable efforts of MSF Belgium, pledged her full support and requested for openness by the State Government and MSF in order to properly synergise the efforts on ground.

The mobile health team was established by the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency with the support from the World Bank Assisted Nigeria States Health Investment Project (NSHIP), which enhanced the re-establishment of basic health care services in the seven most affected local government areas. This is in line with the directive of His Excellency, Senator Muhammed Umaru Jibrilla, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State to bring relief to the people most affected.
