HEALTH: Alleged Kidney Removal, Panel submit report

Dr. Pius Tizhe Submitting report to Hon. Commissioner Dr Fatima Atiku Abubakar 

The investigation panel set up by  Hon Commissioner  to probe the allegation of illegal removal of  patient’s kidney submitted its report.

Submitting the report  to the Honourable Commissioner Dr Fatima Atiku Abubakar, the Chairman of the panel, Dr Pius Tizhe, said the committee had done a thorough job base on the committee terms of reference and inline with the ethical code of conduct of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

One  doctor Hassan Yakubu of Jimeta Clinic was alleged to have conducted a surgery on one Isa Hamman, a 23-year-old herdsman from Fufore Local Government Area of the state.

The doctor was accused to have removed Hamman’s kidney after which the patient was referred to Federal Medical Centre, Gombe, for another treatment.

Dr. Pius  said, “Today, we are officially submitting the report of the panel set up by Hon Commissioner to probe the alleged removal of a patient’s kidney at Jimeta Clinic.”

“We pray that the recommendations of the panel will guide the state government to resolve the matter.”

Receiving the report, the commissioner thanked the panel for a job well done and promised to do everything possible to save the patient live.

Dr Fatima  said she would submit the report to Governor Muhammadu Bindow Jibrilla  for appropriate action.

The patient is currently undergoing dialysis at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola.
